Peculiarities of long-COVID-19 and treatment strategy: a clinical case

Abstract

In the last two years, the world has faced a serious challenge - the emergence of a highly contagious and highly virulent new type of coronavirus - SARS-CoV-2, which causes acute respiratory disease - COVID-19. To date, more than 220 million people worldwide have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and more than 4 million have died from COVID-19. Many people have already encountered this insidious disease, and there is growing evidence of the health consequences of COVID-19, the so-called "postcCOVID syndrome." The same mechanism of autoimmune inflammation caused by molecular mimicry after COVID-19 is suggested in the cases of Guillain-Barré and Miller-Fischer syndrome. SARS-CoV-2 mimics cross-reactive epitopes that may also be present in the synovial membrane and the immune response against them can cause acute inflammation of the joints.
