Abstract

Purpose: establish a favorable age zone to achieve the best results with swimmers. Material and methods: analyzed age world record holders in swimming, 1970–2013 performances. The methods of organizing, summarizing, analyzing and interpreting data. Results: the comparative analysis of the age limits in demonstrating the best results with swimmers in different historical periods. Established favorable age area to demonstrate the best athletic performance at the present stage of development of swimming. Conclusions: found that the age of the strongest swimmers in achieving the highest athletic performance significantly shifted towards older.
