Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The article includes the UDC index.
  • The article provides information about the author(s): First Name LAST NAME, academic degree, academic title, affiliation, email address, ORCID.
  • The title of the article, the abstract, and the keywords are provided in accordance with the journal’s requirements in English and Ukrainian.
  • The manuscript file submitted for peer review does not contain any information that could identify the author(s).
  • The article file has been prepared in accordance with the journal’s requirements and submitted in an file format Microsoft Word (*.doc).
  • The main text of the article is structured in accordance with the journal’s requirements and contains all mandatory elements of a scientific article.
  • In-text citations and the reference list are formatted according to the journal’s requirements. For sources, the DOI and/or URL are provided.
  • All figures, tables, charts, and formulas must be numbered, include captions, and be referenced in the text of the article.
  • The author confirms the accuracy of quotations, borrowed material, and all data presented in the manuscript, and bears responsibility for the content of the submission.
  • The author confirms that all submission metadata in OJS have been entered completely and correctly.

Author Guidelines

Information for Authors

Original scientific articles of a research and discussion nature in English and Ukrainian, which have not been previously published and are not under consideration by other publications, are accepted for publication in the collection of scientific papers “Building Constructions. Theory and Practice”. The authors guarantee the reliability of the submitted results, the proper use of sources, and compliance with the principles of academic integrity. Submission of a manuscript to the editorial board signifies the consent of the author(s) to its scientific and literary editing, as well as to the publication of the material in the electronic and printed versions of the publication.

Language of Submission

  • Authors should submit articles in English or Ukrainian.
  • Foreign authors must submit articles in English only.

General Requirements for Articles

The article must be prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and must include the following mandatory elements:

  1. ABSTRACT (at least 1800 characters, structured, without abbreviations; the structure of the abstract should correspond to the structure of the article, with all explanations provided in the text);

  2. KEYWORDS (3–5);

  3. INTRODUCTION;

  4. OBJECTIVE AND METHODS;

  5. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION;

  6. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS (including prospects for further research);

  7. REFERENCES;

  8. REFERENCE;

  9. ABSTRACT – the structure of the Abstract must correspond to the structure of the article abstract, without abbreviations, with all explanations provided in the text.

At the end of English-language articles, a Ukrainian abstract should be provided; in other cases, an English abstract is required.

Article Length

  • Articles shorter than 10 pages  will not be considered.
  • The maximum length is 1.9 author sheets.
  • If a material is published in parts, each part must end with the note “Continuation (end) will follow.” At the beginning of the next part, indicate “Continuation (end)” with a reference to the issue in which the previous part was published.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (*.doc) format in the following order:

  1. DOI, below it UDC, left-aligned;

  2. Article title (informative and concise, recommended up to 10 words);

  3. Author(s) full name(s); if multiple authors, use numeric footnotes;

  4. Affiliation (mandatory), postal address, e-mail, ORCID ID (10 pt);

  5. Abstract in English (or Ukrainian), 1800 characters (depending on submission language);

  6. Main text of the article with section headings;

  7. LITERATURE;

  8. Reference;

  9. Information block in the second language:

    • For Ukrainian articles: English;

    • For English articles: Ukrainian.

The block should include the full list of authors, article title, abstract identical in content to the main abstract, and keywords.

References to literary sources in the text shall be given in square brackets in accordance with the list of references provided at the end of the article.

The list of sources shall be presented under the subheadings “LITERATURE / ЛІТЕРАТУРА” and “REFERENCES”.

Technical Formatting Requirements

Page settings:

  • A4 format;

  • Margins: top and bottom – 2.5 cm; left and right – 2 cm;

  • Headers/footers – 1.3 cm;

  • Paragraph indent – 0.5 cm.

Font formatting:

  • Arial is used for article metadata:

    • DOI, UDC – 10 pt, italic;

    • ARTICLE TITLE – 14 pt, uppercase, bold;

    • Author’s name – 12 pt, italic;

    • E-mail, ORCID – 10 pt;

  • Times New Roman, 12 pt for main text;

  • 11 pt for abstracts, figure captions, table titles, and reference list;

  • Line spacing – 1.0.

After the affiliation, the text of the article is formatted in two columns of 8 cm width with a 1 cm gap. Automatic hyphenation must be enabled.

Tables, Figures, and Formulas

  • Table titles and figure captions (11 pt) are left-aligned.

  • In English texts, titles and captions are duplicated in Cyrillic (on the next line).

  • Abbreviations “Table” and “Fig.” are capitalized (11 pt).

  • Tables and figures are placed after their first mention in the text. Large objects may be at the top or bottom of the page.

  • Illustrations are submitted as separate files (*.jpg, *.tif, at least 300 dpi) with mandatory authorship indicated.

  • Leave one empty line between text and graphical objects.

  • Formulas are created using MS Equation 3.0 or MathType 6.0, centered in the column, numbered on the right.

  • Numbers, Greek letters, Cyrillic, trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan, etc.), constants (max, const), and chemical elements are in regular font; Latin symbols, Roman numerals, and explanatory numbers are italic.

  • Stretching, compressing, or other artificial scaling of formulas is not allowed; if a formula spans multiple lines, its number is indicated in the last line; symbol and coefficient explanations are given directly below the formula in order of appearance; the first line of explanation begins with “where” without a colon.

References and Citation Requirements

  • No more than five references may be cited in one place in the text.

  • References are listed in the order of appearance in the text.

  • The reference list must contain at least 25 sources, mainly scientific articles and monographs.

  • References must follow APA style.

  • Bibliographic descriptions and citations are given in the original language.

  • The list is duplicated in transliteration in the References section.

  • Non-scientific sources are not allowed.

  • Sources must include DOI, and in some cases URL.

  • Most sources must be published after 2000.

  • For internet sources, full bibliographic information must be provided.

  • Self-citation rate ≤ 10%.

  • Foreign sources ≥ 20%.

In the “REFERENCES” section, the sources must match the original list in identical order and numbering. The REFERENCES section, compiled using transliteration, is mandatory for indexing in international scientometric databases.

Important

  • The editorial board reserves the right to reject materials that do not meet scientific or technical requirements or return them to authors for revision.
  • Articles prepared with violations of established rules may not be considered until deficiencies are corrected.
  • Before submission, authors are advised to carefully check the material for compliance with all requirements, correct citation formatting, and linguistic quality.
  • The editorial board informs the author of the publication decision.
    Submitted materials are not re-reviewed; manuscripts are not returned in case of rejection, and the editorial board does not enter into discussions regarding content.
  • Authors may not submit an article accepted and approved by the editorial board to other journals.
    Published materials reflect the authors’ personal position, which may differ from the editorial board’s position.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of data and citations.
    The journal does not cooperate with aggressor states or countries officially supporting armed aggression against Ukraine.
  • Manuscripts from authors affiliated with institutions of such countries are not considered.
    References to works by authors affiliated with aggressor states are prohibited.

Copyright Policy

Authors publishing in the journal Building Constructions. Theory and Practice agree to the following:

  • Authors retain copyright to their materials and grant the journal a non-exclusive right for first publication.

  • Published materials are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing free use, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and derivative works with proper attribution to the authors and the first publication in the journal.

  • Authors may enter additional agreements for non-exclusive distribution, including institutional repositories, personal websites, or inclusion in other scientific publications, provided the first publication in the journal is cited.

  • If the article contains third-party materials, authors must obtain proper permissions. Such materials may not fall under the CC BY 4.0 license if indicated in the publication.

Privacy Policy

Names, e-mails, and other personal data provided on the Building Constructions. Theory and Practice website are used solely for the editorial process and journal platform operation.

Collection and Processing of Personal Data

Personal data collected via the website is processed according to standard peer-reviewed journal procedures. This includes information necessary for communication in the editorial process (name, surname, e-mail, affiliation, ORCID) and for informing readers about authorship and editing. This data is not shared with third parties except for platform operation, publishing and editorial processes, indexing, DOI registration, archiving, or as required by law.

Peer Review Confidentiality

The editorial board guarantees confidentiality during peer review. Manuscript, author, and reviewer information is confidential and accessible only to authorized editorial staff. Reviewers may not share manuscripts or parts thereof with third parties, including AI services, without written permission.

Rights of Data Subjects

Individuals whose personal data is processed within the journal have rights under Ukrainian law and, where applicable, GDPR, including access, correction, deletion (where permitted), restriction, portability, objection, and filing a complaint to the competent authority.

Authors’ Responsibility

Authors including personal data of participants (respondents, patients, etc.) are responsible for obtaining proper consent for processing in accordance with law and ethical norms.

  • Materials for publication must be submitted as a complete package.
  • The package includes: review (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor), extract from departmental or technical council protocol.
  • Articles are uploaded via the online submission system: http://bctp.knuba.edu.ua
  • Supporting documents are sent to: knubazbk@gmail.com
  • If you already have a username and password for Building Constructions. Theory and Practice, log in to your personal account on the website.
    If not, register on the journal platform. To submit an article and track its status, authors must be registered users and log in with their credentials.

Privacy Statement

The editorial board of the collection of scientific papers  "Building Constructions. Theory and Practice” ensures the protection of users’ personal data in accordance with applicable legislation and the ethical standards of scholarly publishing.

Names, e-mail addresses, and other personal data provided by authors, reviewers, and other users on the journal’s website are used exclusively for the purposes of ensuring the editorial process, organizing peer review, preparing and publishing scientific materials, as well as maintaining the operation of the journal’s electronic platform.

Collection and Use of Personal Data

Users’ personal data collected during the operation of the official website of the collection of scientific papers “Building Constructions. Theory and Practice” are processed in accordance with generally accepted standards of peer-reviewed scholarly publishing. Such data include information necessary to ensure editorial communication:

  • surname and first name,
  • e-mail address,
  • affiliation,
  • ORCID identifier.

This information is made publicly available for the purpose of identifying authors and editors of published materials. The transfer of such data to third parties is not carried out, except in cases required by the technical needs of the platform, editorial and publishing processes, indexing procedures, DOI registration and archiving, or when required by law.

Confidentiality of Peer Review

The collection of scientific papers “Building Constructions. Theory and Practice” guarantees compliance with the principle of confidentiality in the peer-review process. Information regarding submitted manuscripts, their authors, and involved reviewers is confidential and may be accessed only by authorized members of the editorial board. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from transferring manuscripts or any of their parts to any third parties, including through the use of artificial intelligence tools, without prior written permission from the editorial board.

Rights of Personal Data Subjects

Individuals whose personal data are processed in connection with the publishing activities of the collection of scientific papers “Building Constructions. Theory and Practice” enjoy the rights established by the current legislation of Ukraine in the field of personal data protection and, where applicable, by the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In particular, each data subject has the right to access their data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion in cases provided by law, restrict or stop processing, transfer data to another controller, and submit a complaint to the relevant supervisory authority.

Responsibility of Authors

Authors whose research involves the collection or use of personal data of participants - including respondents, patients, or other individuals - are required to independently ensure that properly documented consent for the processing of such data has been obtained. This must be carried out in full compliance with applicable legislation and generally accepted ethical standards for conducting scientific research.
