Focus and Scope
“Digital platform: Information Technologies in Sociocultural Sphere” is a domestic peer-reviewed journal publishing scientific articles in the information technologies field and innovations in the sociocultural sphere in the context of computer sciences.
Scientific research covers the following areas: 3D technology, visualization and interactive multimedia solutions for museums, theaters, concert halls, exhibitions, etc.; electronic resources and information and communication technologies in libraries, museums, archives; preserving cultural heritage and ensuring open access of digital resources; IT technology in artistic education, the digital innovation impact on culture and art.
The publication Digital Platform: Information Technologies in Sociocultural Sphere is also aimed at highlighting modern areas of interdisciplinary research on the development of information technology and socio-cultural communication. The journal publishes new theoretical and practical results in the computer sciences field, publishes also the current state reviews of important scientific problems connected with the modern digital technologies use in culture and art, and so on. The journal carries out first-prints of such types of materials:
- research articles containing scientific novelty;
- reviews of new monographs, corresponding profiles and the journal topics;
- bibliographic reviews containing a brief description of publications, relevant profiles and topics of the journal;
- reviews of scientific events (conferences, seminars, round tables, etc.);
Materials of each issue in the journal are divided into thematic sections.
Peer Review Process
The review procedure (scientific expertise) passes all research papers submitted to the editorial board. Reviews, bibliographic reviews, reports of informational nature in the review procedure do not pass.
Reviewing the edited articles of research is carried out in order to maximally objectively evaluate their content and provides a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the submitted materials. Unpublished previously scientific articles are submitted which are relevant to the subject matter of the publication, in particular, cover issues of the information technology impact on contemporary culture preservation, the latest achievements application for the cultural heritage, the branch education development, etc.
The scientific article should contain a description of the intermediate or final results in scientific research, to cover a specific separate issue on the topic of the dissertation or scientific research, to fix the author’s scientific priority, to make its material available to a wide range of specialists.
The degree of article’s compliance is separately taken into account that came to the editorial board with the requirements for preparing manuscripts for publication in the publication Digital Platform: Information Technologies in the Sociocultural Sphere.
The editorial board reserves the right to reject the article at the preliminary review stage if its content does not correspond to the subject matter and scientific direction of the journal if the text does not conform to the standards and scientific style of the Ukrainian or English languages, if the requirements for technical drawing and the material structure are not met.
The review process is carried out by the editorial board members and by independent experts from the relevant branches. Review of manuscripts is conducted confidentially (double "blind" review).
The confidentiality disclosure of the manuscript review violates the author’s rights.
Editors do not disclose information relating to the manuscript (including details of its receipt, content, review process, criticisms of reviewers and final conclusions) to anyone other than the authors and reviewers themselves. Violation of confidentiality is possible only in the case of unreliability statement or materials falsification, in all other cases, its conservation is mandatory.
Reviewers evaluate the theoretical and the article’s methodological level, its practical value and scientific significance. In addition, compliance with the ethics principles of scientific publications is determined and recommendations are given to eliminate cases of their violation.
The editorial team informs the authors of the decision in writing. The members’ articles of the editorial board pass the standard procedure of the double "blind" review, organized by the editor-in-chief. The editorial board members do not participate in the consideration of their own manuscripts.
Appointment of reviewers takes place on the editor-in-chief recommendation and the editorial board decision. Also, according to the editorial board decision, separate articles by prominent scholars and authors specially invited by the editorial team to write an article may be exempted from the standard review procedure. The standard review procedure is usually within 14 days. The review periods may vary in each case, taking into account the creation of conditions for the most objective assessment of the provided materials quality.
The author of the scientific work is given an opportunity to read the review text. The interaction between the author and the reviewers occurs indirectly through the editorial board of the publication Digital Platform: Information Technologies in the Sociocultural Sphere or through the publishing platform OJS (Open Journal Systems).
At the reviewer’s request and with the consent of the editorial board, the interaction of the author and the reviewer may take place in the mode of direct personal contact (such decision is made to improve the style and logic of the research material presentation only in case of providing the reviewer with a positive response).
In the case if the reviewer indicates the need to make certain corrections in the article, the article is returned to the author for revision with the suggestion to take into account the comments when preparing an updated version of the article or to substantiate their refutation. During the re-submission of the revised materials to the editor, the author shall accompany them with the notification regarding the consideration or reasons for not taking into account the comments made by the reviewer and comments on all changes made in the article. Corrected by the author copy of the article is repeated to the same reviewer for the decision and preparation of a motivated conclusion on the possibility of publication. The date of acceptance of an article for publication is the date of receipt by the editorial staff of a positive opinion of the reviewer (or the decision of the editorial board) regarding the expediency and possibility of publishing the article.
In case of disagreement with the opinion of the reviewer, the author’s manuscript has the right to provide a reasoned response to the editorial staff of the journal. In such circumstances, the article is considered at the meeting of the editorial board working group. The editorial board may send the article for additional or new review to another specialist. The editorial board reserves the right to reject the article in case of the author’s insolvency or unwillingness it is taken into account the recommendations and comments of the reviewers.
The scientific article, which received approval reviews, is transmitted to literary and technical editing. The interaction between the author and the literary (technical) editor can take place in any form - in person, by e-mail, in Skype, by telephone.
Minor corrections of a stylistic or a formal nature that do not affect the content of the article are made by a literary (technical) editor. Edited and prepared for publication materials before publication are definitively agreed with the author.
The recommendation for the publication of the next journal issue (with the content indication) is made by the Academic Council of the National University of Culture and Arts and fixed in the relevant protocol.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published twice a year (June, December).
Open Access Policy
This journal practices a policy of immediate open access to published content, supporting the principles of the free dissemination of scientific information and the global exchange of knowledge for the sake of universal social progress.
Anti-plagiarism Policy
For all the articles that are submitted for review, the level of uniqueness of the author's text is determined by using the appropriate software, that shows the level of uniqueness the article, sources used and the partial match text (“eTXTАнтіплагіат”, “Advego Plagiatus”). The citation is allowed to the extent that does not exceed 15% of the total volume of the article. Thus, the uniqueness should not be less than 85%. At the same time, first of all the attention is paid, to the level of novelty aiming at scientific problem solution suggested in the article. The volume of citation can be greater than one pointed earlier due to the need for the accurate analysis of proposed before scientific problem solutions.
The Cost of Publication
The publication cost is free. Shipment of the journal is carried out at the expense of the authors.
Editorial Ethics
No waivers or discounts are offered for open access publication in this journal.
The authors' ethics
The authors are obligated:
- submit an article that has not previously been published and is not being considered in another edition. If the elements of the manuscript were previously published in another article, the authors are required to refer to their earlier work.
- to provide in the article the facts and results of the conducted researches. The authors are responsible for the accuracy of the material in the article (dates, proper names, quotations, etc.). False or fraudulent statements equal to unethical behavior and are unacceptable;
- in case of necessity, at the request of the editorial board, provide the source data for the editorial review. Authors should provide free access to such data and store this data within a reasonable time after their publication;
- adhere to the ethics of scientific citation. In the case of using fragments of other people's works and / or borrowing the statements of other authors, the article should be made corresponding links.
- Articles that are compilations of materials published by other authors without their creative processing and their own author's reflection by the editors of the journal are not accepted.
Editor's Ethics
Members of the editorial board are responsible for publishing the manuscripts provided and are guided by the following principles:
- reliability, scientific novelty and significance of materials presented for publication, their originality and independence;
- stop any cooperation with the author of the text is found plagiarism, violation of academic integrity and copyright;
- correspondence of scientific articles and other materials published for publication of the publication policy;
- prevent a conflict of interest between members of the editorial board with respect to articles that they reject or approve prior to publication;
- confidentiality in the organization of reviewing the articles provided for publication;
- observance of the copyright regarding the manuscripts submitted to consideration, the inadmissibility of their use by members of the editorial board for personal purposes or transfer to third parties;
- preservation of copyright by the authors after the articles’ publication and their placement in open access;
Ethics review
The purpose of the review of the article is to support the highest ethical scientific research standards:
- The objective of the reviewer is to objectively assess the quality of the article and determine the degree of its compliance with scientific and ethical standards;
- The reviewer should refuse to review if his qualification and direction of training do not correspond to the article's direction;
- To ensure the right of each author to intellectual property, the reviewer is prohibited from using any material of the article without the author's permission;
- In the case of a conflict of interest or professional or personal relationship between the reviewer and the author, which may affect the judgment of the reviewer, he must return the article, indicating a conflict of interest;
- Accusing of plagiarism requires a reviewer to justify his own observations. Any allegation of plagiarism or bias citation should be accompanied by appropriate justification;
- In case of doubts about plagiarism, authorship or falsification of data in the reviewer, it is obligatory to apply to the editorial board with the requirement for collective consideration of the author's article;
