The main metaphor «the life is like a trip of soul» of autobiography «Sinsful Iosaf, Mgarsky’s abbot, who followed the path of his life» by Ioasaf Gorlenko, is explored in the article. It was found out that the asceticism of Ioasaf Gorlenko was been visible in unswerving following the path, which had been shown to him by Jesus Christ and the main purpose of his activity was filling the sacred space of monastery with obeisance to Saint Athanasius.
