Abstract

The cost reduction methods for companies supplying consumers with technical gases in high pressure seamless steel cylinders are reviewed. Increase in efficiency of gas cylinder business is suggested in three basic ways. Firstly, when replacing traditional 150 bar cylinders with higher volume 200 and 300 bar vessels the share of the payload in a cylinder is to be increased. Secondly, higher capacity lightweight high pressure cylinders allow reducing the frequency of refills and costs of transportation. Thirdly, to increase the operational efficiency of gas cylinders park the costs of repainting, internal cleaning, testing and tracking of vessels are to be reduced. The specific example illustrates the efficiency of lightweight 200 bar 50 liter cylinders of «Worthington Cylinders GmbH».
