The Geophysical Journal Wins State Funding in the Ministry of Education and Science Competition

The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of Ukraine has summarized the results of the competitive selection for providing financial support to scientific professional publications of Ukraine for 2026–2027, which are indexed by the international scientometric databases Scopus and/or Web of Science Core Collection. The Geophysical Journal was included in the list of winners of the competitive selection for state financial support

The selection became the first institutional mechanism of the MES aimed at supporting scientific professional publications that demonstrate stable indicators of quality and international integration. It introduces a systematic and transparent model of state support for leading Ukrainian scientific journals based on clear and public criteria.

The competition was held in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated August 26, 2025 No. 1032 and the Order of the MES No. 1291 dated September 26, 2025, which regulates the work of the competition commission and the methodology for evaluating applications.

Applications for participation were submitted through the URIS system. Publications that have been indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science Core Collection for at least two consecutive years and have category "A" in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine were eligible to participate.

This success was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the entire Geophysical Journal community. Authors, reviewers, editors, and readers together shape its development and scientific weight.

Update to Editorial Policy and New Manuscript Requirements (NASU Resolution No. 22)

In order to completely sever scientific ties with the aggressor states, we kindly ask you to adhere to the following additional rules when reviewing and evaluating articles:

The Editorial Board categorically rejects any manuscript if at least one of the co-authors indicates an affiliation (place of work or study) with institutions of the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus. This applies to both primary employment and part-time positions.
Manuscripts based on research conducted with the financial support (grants, state-funded projects) of institutions from the aggressor states are not accepted for publication.
The Editorial Board is implementing a "cordon sanitaire" policy regarding citations. We strongly advise authors against citing works produced at RF/RB institutions, as well as referencing Russian scientific journals. Rationale: Citing such works artificially boosts their scientometric indicators (h-index, Impact Factor) in the Scopus/WoS databases, which the aggressor uses to promote its science. Attention to Reviewers: If you notice references to Russian sources in the reference list, please instruct the authors to either replace them with international or Ukrainian equivalents, or remove them entirely as ethically unacceptable.
It is strictly prohibited to involve scientists affiliated with RF and RB institutions in the peer-review process.

We urge you to be highly attentive when checking article metadata and reference lists. Compliance with these rules is mandatory to safeguard the Journal’s reputation and to execute the decisions of the NAS of Ukraine under martial law conditions.
