The urgency of adapting the energy policy of many developed countries to the development of alternative energy sources is conditioned by global climate changes, the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants, rising energy prices, and growing energy needs. Wind energy is recognized by European scientific community as one of the priority directions in the development of electricity generation in the world. For our country, wind energy is an extremely important branch, the development of which will reduce Ukraine's dependence on imported fuels and harmful emissions of greenhouse gases and other sources of environmental pollution. The development of wind energy and the successful implementation of wind energy projects require the right and skillful management, which takes into account the specific features of such projects, the requirements of all stakeholders of projects, their environment and the industry as a whole. Such management should be based on the best practices in project management science and should be aimed at increasing the efficiency of wind energy projects under turbulent stochastic environment. In the article the state and problems of the development of alternative energy are analyzed. The urgency of alternative energy development and the necessity of transition to alternative energy sources are determined. The possibility and priority of the use of wind energy in Ukraine are established. The problem issues in the field of wind energy are identified and existing researches in the management by wind energy projects are analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the types of wind energy projects are identified, as well as their specific features are disclosed. The categorization of wind energy projects according to various classifications is carried out. The basic distinctive features of wind energy projects are highlighted and peculiarities of their management are specified. It has been established that the management by wind energy projects is multifactorial and risk-oriented. The effectiveness of management largely depends on a significant number of stakeholders and the uncertainties associated with them.
