Abstract

General problems of design and application of powerful electromagnetic radiation sources with power supply from an explosive magnetic generator (EMG) are considered. The structural scheme of the source is presented, and main requirements to the radiating system and EMG parameters are formulated. Optimum loading regime of EMG, which is the power source of mega-ampere currents, is shown to occur in case of low-impedance current load such as a loop of current.

Compactness and high specific value of power capacity of EMG detetermine possible application directions of the radiating sources based on EMG. As an example, a powerful electromagnetic pulse generator with power supply from EMG for the earth surface inroscopy is considered.

Also, problems of high-power electromagnetic pulses registration are considered.

Some of results of EMG parameters experimental investigation are demonstrated.
