Stages of mergers and acquisitions in the banking system are analyzed, an effectiveness of control over the capital base of banks as a basis for restructuring the banking system of Ukraine is considered, the problems of efficiency of mergers and acquisitions of banks at the present stage of reorganization of the banking system of Ukraine are defined and effective trends of mergers and acquisitions as the direction of increasing capitalization of the banking system of Ukraine are proved
