Yaroslav-Bogdan Rudnytsky’s contribution to the development of Ukrainian toponymy

This article summarizes the scientific achievements of Ya– B. Rudnytsky in the sphere of toponomastics. The linguistic analysis of the researcher’s paper «Geographical Names of Boikivshchyna» considering toponyms (hydronyms, oronyms, and oikonyms) in lexical – semantic, structural, historical aspects is given. The results of Rudnytsky’s research of certain geographical names as well as an ethnotoponym "Ukraine" are showт. The researcher’s views on toponymic metonymy issue is elucidated
