Evolution of views on genesis of natural gases in the depths of Transcarpathian depression is given in the article. Besides another aspect that is mentioned is definition of potential source rocks of oil and gas within the depression by the analysis of the cores on TOC amount and oil and gas generation potential of Miocene thicknesses of sediments as well as preneogene basement
