В статті розкрито образ музичного життя Києва другої половини ХІХ – початку ХХ ст. на сторінках періодичної преси, художньої літератури та опублікованих джерел особового походження: щоденників, спогадів. Проаналізовано приклади використання кожного із цих видів джерел для дослідження образу музичного життя Києва. Встановлено аспекти музичного життя, які висвітлені у цих джерелах
