Abstract

The aim – to investigate arterial stiffness, daily profile of blood pressure (BP) and their association with cardiovascular risk (CVR) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and arterial hypertension (AH). 20 patients with CKD (stage 1-2) and AH (stage 1-2) were enrolled in the study (7 males and 13 females, mean age – 55±8,4 years. Depending on CVR risk patients were distributed into three groups: low (<1%), moderate (1-10%) and high risk (≥10%). The highest proportion – patients with moderate risk (50%). Statistically significant association between age and CVR was discovered. Arterial stiffness (measured by pulse pressure and pulse wave velocity) raised with increase of CVR risk. The best values of endothelial function were observed in the group of high risk patients. More than half of patients had non-dipping daily blood pressure profile. Patients in group of high risk presented the highest mean sysolic BP and morning elevation BP.
