Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE EXECUTION

Articles are to be submitted to the Editorial Board of "Opera in Linguistica Ukrainiana" [Notes on Ukrainian Linguistics] collection of scientific works in accordance with the requirements of Clause 3 of the Decree of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine "On Increasing the Requirements for Professional Publications Included in the Lists of the Higher Attestation Committee of Ukraine" No. 7-05/1 dated 15.01.2003.

Article structure:
– scientific problem setting and its relevance/topicality;
– analysis of researches on the problem under investigation;
– aims and objectives; object and subject of the research; a description of the factual material and analytic methods employed; scientific novelty, theoretical and practical value of the obtained results;
– presentation of the basic material and substantiation of the research results;
– conclusions and perspectives of the study.

Authors should submit one article that has not been earlier published in other editions; they are fully responsible for the originality of the article, the accuracy of the reported facts, citations, statistics, etc.

The article is to be sent to the Editorial Office via e-mail: kafukrmovaonu@ukr.net; please, apply MS Word editor, Times New Roman font, 1.5 spacing. Margins: left –30 mm, right –15 mm, bottom and top –20 mm,1.25 mm paragraph indentation, no hyphenation. Pages should not be numbered.

The length of a scientific manuscript (including tables, annotations, and references) should be 7 to 12 pages.

We accept for printing edited articles with the following layout: the UDC classifier is to be presented in the very beginning of the article (first line, aligned to the left, font size 12); the author's initials and last name in the original language of the article (second line, aligned to the right, font size 12, bold); academic degree and title in the original language of the article (third line, aligned to the right, font size 12, italics); place of employment (affiliation), current position in the original language of the article (fourth – fifth line, aligned to the right, font size 12, italics); title of the article in its original language (aligned to the center, font size 12, capital letters, bold).

Abstract in the original language of the article (font size 11, 1 spacing), composed of not less that 1,800 symbols (250 to 300 words), including Keywords (5 to 7 keywords). The structure of the Abstract should follow that of the article, containing aims and objectives, subject, methods, brief conclusions and prospects of the research.

The author's initials and last name in English (aligned to the right, font size 12, bold);  academic degree and title (next line, aligned to the right, font size 12); place of employment (affiliation), current position (next line, aligned to the right, font size 12); title of the article (aligned to the center, font size 12, capital letters, bold) – all the components should presented in a fashion similar to that one used for the components in the original language of the article.

Abstract in English (font size 11, 1 spacing), composed of at least 1,800 symbols (250 to 300 words), including Keywords (5 to 7 keywords). The structure of the Abstract should follow that of the article, containing aims and objectives, subject, methods, brief conclusions and prospects of the research.

It is followed by the text of the article (font size 12, 1.5 spacing, see the main mandatory components of the article above); in-text citations should be enclosed in square brackets, e.g. [1]. Include specific page numbers after the relevant citation number after comma, e.g. [1, p. 5].

The reference list in the original language of the article Literature (title: font size 12, italics, bold; authors' names and initials arranged in alphabetic order: font size 12, 1.5 spacing, italics; other information: font size 12).

The list of references in the original language Literature should be arranged in accordance with the National Standard of Ukraine (DSTU) 8302:2015 "Information and Documents. Bibliographic Citations. General Provisions and Compiling Rules).

Literature should be followed by References, which is the romanized list of references (font size 12, 1.5 spacing, italics bold). References are to be presented in Harvard referencing style. Romanization of references is to be performed according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No 55 dated 27.01.2010 "On the Arrangement of Romanization of Ukrainian". Romanization only applies to the cited sources in Ukrainian. For your convenience, please, use online romanization converter.

The romanized initials and last name of the author(s) should be followed by the romanized title of the source and its translation into English in square brackets. It is not needed to romanize the cited sources in languages which use the Latin alphabet.

Last name and initials of the author(s), as well as the publisher's name, should be romanized rather than translated. Such reference elements as place of publication (city, country), volume, issue, and pages are to be translated into English. Place of publication should not be presented in a shortened form; names of cities should be translated into English. If the cited source has been assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) as per the International Standard Information and Documentation (ISO 26324:2022), then the respective DOI must be specified for the respective sources in both Literature and References.

Abbreviations, initials (e.g. S. P. Bevzenko), names of settlements and other geographical features (e.g. Odesa c.) are to be typed with non-breaking spaces inserted (Ctrl + Shift + Space).

The Editorial Board would appreciate it if the authors follow a thoughtful approach to compiling a bibliography, in particular avoiding excessive citing of Russian-language sources, as well as publications issued in the Russian Federation or Belarus.

REFLECTION OF TWO LAWS OF SPELLING IN THE SPEECH OF UKRAINIAN RESPONDENTS OF THE DIASPORA:
NORMS AND DEVIATIONS

The article is devoted to the oral speech of Ukrainian diaspora’s youth (America, Canada, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Moldova...) at the synchronous level, in particular the pronunciation features of the Ukrainian language. Based on the poll the normativeness and historical organicity are proved. Also, pronunciation problems and orthoepic deviations are indicated; the percentage of mastery of orthoepy of sound combinations was determined, in particular, the pronunciation of hushing sounds before sibilants and vice versa in a wide local and social representation of foreign countries.

Our research aims to try to determine the percentage of orthoepy, to identify, analyze and describe typical pronunciation mistakes, in particular the pronunciation of hushing sounds before sibilants and vice versa in a wide local and social representation abroad. Our task is to analyze the speech of Ukrainian respondents in the diaspora, to indicate the stability and instability of a particular norm; to trace the reflection of the pronunciation of these sound 10 combinations in old written notes, and compare with the speech of Ukrainian respondents in Ukraine......................
