EFFICIENCY USING OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES DURING MELT OF THE STEEL ON MMZ’S ELECTRIC FURNACES

Abstract

Experts of the Moldavian metal works are carring out purposeful work by decrease of expenses energy on melt high-quality steels in the arc electric furnace. One of  the directions - increase the efficiency use of  alternative energy sources in a combination with application of gaseous oxygen. Works by perfection of the electric furnace and its equipment, and also modernization of oxygen-compressor station are described in article. It has allowed to lower the charge of the electric power up to 390 kWh on ton of steel at simultaneous increase of productivity the furnace to 126 tons. The intensification of electrosteel-smelting manufacture enables at use of one furnace to reach on MMZ annual melt of the steel exceeding one million of tons.
