The considerable quantity air separation units manufactured by JSC «Cryogenmash» are requires replacement. The exceeding of the running period of unit making 20 years and, as a consequence, physical- and obsolescence is often account for this. In most cases the most rational variant is a modernization of such units. The execution of this operation represents the rather complex (difficult) task stipulated of themes, that it is necessary to search for such optimal scheme solutions, which will answer, on the one hand, for the modern level of development of a cryogenic engineering, and, with another, will be compatible with the ideas, which used by the developers 20 years ago and more during the creation of exploitable units. In the given article the wide experience of JSC «Cryogenmash» on modernization of air separation units is generalizing. It is shown in details what benefits gives the modernization on an example of the large units «КтК-35-3» and «КАр-30». The successfully spent modernization of this units has stipulated the output of necessary documents and permissions on the new specified life per 20 years, i.e. same as well as for new units.
