In technological circuits of modern air separation plants (ASP) are included the expander-compressor units (ECU). In them are available the expander and compressor steps located on general shaft of the unit. It allows to use energy of expansion of air part for increase of its pressure in compressor step. The serious attention is given to efficiency of ECU. The problem of optimization ECU which is reduced to definition of optimum frequency of rotation of the shaft, corresponding to maximum of efficiency of the unit is stated. The algorithm of optimization is described. At the first stage of its realization the borders of compromise area of local objective functions are defined. The results of optimization calculations are stated which have shown that efficiency of ECU can be increased by 4,7 %. Perspectivity of creation of large ECU with twin-shaft design is marked.
