Machine-free devices take the special place among chillers which use energy of compressed gas. They yield to expanders on efficiency, but have combination of conclusive operational and design advantages. Among them — high reliability, multifunctionality, noninertiality, compactness, simplicity of manufacturing. These features have stipulated distribution of machine-free devices in the most different fields: from vacuum engineering and medicine up to cryogenics. The general physical characteristics of vortical and wave devices, the schemes of plants in which separators and chillers using are examined. The advanced of used of gas-dynamic devices in technologies for receipt of rare gases are valid.
