A mathematical model of counterflow heat exchanger, taking into account the longitudinal heat conductivity of the wall separating the flows, is worked out. With the transformation to dimensionless variables, our solution allows compact to provide information about all great number of such heat exchangers. Shown that at a certain ratio of the dimensionless parameters the temperature distribution in the real counterflow heat exchanger can be almost the same as in an ideal heat exchanger, in which there is no longitudinal heat conduction. A new, more general criterion of efficiency heat exchanger is offered.
