Abstract

The share of natural gas in the global energy balance by 2020 will rise up to 50 %. This is because natural gas in liquefied form (LNG) is more widely used in areas already developed by it as well as in new technologies. LNG is an effective cryogenic energy carrier. The application of LNG in motor transport is considered, and for that universal refueling stations are constructed. At the stations LNG is filled in motor car cryogenic tanks. At the same stations gasified LNG is under pressure filled in the gas cylinder of motor cars. LNG is currently beginning to be used in shipping. There is a development of LNG technology in rail transport, aviation, rocket and space engineering. New floating terminals are  constructed  to replace the LNG terminals which are usually constructed in coastal areas. Marine universal complexes are built for natural gas production, liquefaction and its transshipment to the methane carrier ships. All these confirm the validity of the currently used phrase: «XXI century is the golden century of natural gas.»
