We investigated the relationship between the chemical and physical exergy constituents for nitrogen as a function of pressure at different isotherms. Different ways of calculating exergy efficiency are presented. Values of exergy efficiency for hydrogen cryogenic refrigeration unit and its cooling stages have been calculated and analyzed in various ways and at various types of products obtained. Conclusion about the benefits of a formalized exergy balance equation when analyzing the thermodynamic efficiency of cryogenic plants has been made.
