Opposed gas piston compressors are widely used in various manufacturing industries. In this regard, great attention is paid to their improvement, because compressed gas is the most expensive source of energy. Less than 25 % of the electricity consumed for a compressed air passes into the potential energy of its pressure. One of the most critical components of the compressor is the automatic valve, which, to a large extent, determines the efficiency and reliability of the compressor. The paper is dedicated to a review of the automatic valve of the next generation, the main advantage of which is the increased flow area in the gap, which would significantly reduce a power loss during suction and discharge of gas.
