Enrichment and further separation of krypton-xenon mixtures is carried out mainly at cryogenic temperatures. Attention is drawn to the usefulness of applying a gas hydrate method for these purposes. Xenon and krypton hydrates are formed at relatively high temperatures, exceeding 273 K, and lower partial pressures. The scheme of the unit of hydrate enrichment of Xe-CH4 mixture is shown and its operating principle is described. Approximate quantitative estimates indicate that gas hydrates separation efficiency in some cases will be commensurate with the effectiveness of traditional methods. Gas hydrate method is also applicable for cleaning naturally occurring Kr-Xe mixture from inevitable radon impurities.
