It is proposed to replace the adiabatic compression of carbon dioxide vapor to a high pressure, used at carbamide production, by isothermal or poliropic compression. This significantly reduces the compressor drive power, reduces the temperature at the end of the compression and improves the compressor working conditions. At transition to isothermal compression of CO2 the specific energy consumption decreases from 0,106 to 0,076 kWh/kg, and at politropic compression — to 0,087 kWh/kg. Such modernization of the plant with the capacity of 45 tons of CO2 per hour will reduce the compressor drive effective power from 4759 to 3431 kW at the first case and to 3894 kW at the second, which will result in savings of 11,63 and 7,58 GW.h of electrical energy per year correspondingly.
