Multicultural education: cultural and historical context

Abstract

This article analyzes the problems of multicultural education in the cultural and historical context. The author marks the historical and socio-economic aspects of formation of multicultural education, which are characterized by some leading ideas and concept. The author reveals the essence, content and principles of multicultural education. The article shows that the direction and the nature of multicultural education were determined by the peculiarities of each historical period and the dominant social relations. Nowadays education is the main goal of the formation of readiness and ability for living in a multiethnic environment.
