Stimulated desorption of excited particles by electron irradiation of the surface of oxidized tungsten coated with sodium

Abstract

The electron-stimulated desorption (ESD) of excited particles from oxidised surface of sodium covered tungsten was studied. The intensities of spectral lines H, Na, OH, CN as functions of energy, current density, irradiator time of bombarding electrons and distance from the target surface were investigated. The ESD cross sections of excited H atoms, OH and CN molecules as well as their escape velocities were estimated. The results are discussed in terms of possible desorption mechanisms.
