The shift to a circular economy is a crucial part of the European Union’s (EU) strategy for sustainable development, especially in the construction sector and its waste management practices. This research highlights the regulations and methods used to manage construction waste across the European Union. By examining EU directives, national case studies, and recent initiatives, the paper demonstrates both the progress made and the ongoing challenges in aligning construction and demolition waste management with the principles of a circular economy. Special focus is given to the EU’s unified legal framework, economic incentives, technological advances, and behavioural barriers. The article emphasizes the need to address gaps in implementing and sharing standardized, sustainable waste management practices throughout the EU.
