The article deals with the essence, role and importance of mediation as one of the management tools in social work, attempts are made to conduct a scientific search for Ukrainian and world practices of mediation implementation at all levels of management. In the professional activity of a social work specialist, mediation is one of the central places among the competencies defined by educational standards. It is obvious that in the structure of the management hierarchy in institutions, establishments and systems of social work, management positions are in most cases occupied primarily by professionals who have received higher education in the specialty of social work and have implemented their knowledge, skills and abilities in the positions of executives. Therefore, management in social work as a professional field has a close relationship between social management and the social sphere. The competence of social workers in the use of mediation and mediation technologies is an important factor for the successful provision of services to recipients and effective management in the field of social work. Mediation is a process in which an independent third party helps the parties to a conflict to resolve the situation through discussion, cooperation and finding common solutions. This technology of resolving conflicts, disputes and other controversial situations was pioneered in the United States and Western Europe, proving its effectiveness and importance in the economic, social and cultural aspects of society.
