Abstract

The relevance of the issue of preserving reproductive health in Ukraine has significantly increased since the beginning of military actions in 2014, especially in the context of the full-scale war ongoing since 2022. Women's reproductive health is a crucial aspect of Ukraine's social policy, as it affects the country's demographic prospects and socio-economic potential. The need for psychosocial support for women during pregnancy and the postpartum period has become particularly pressing. Pregnancy and childbirth are crisis moments, which may be exacerbated by the conditions of war, creating the need for social and psychological support to help women adapt to new conditions and maintain their mental health.

The research highlights the importance of psychosocial support for women during these periods. A review of scientific studies on the impact of mental state on pregnancy and childbirth was conducted. It was noted that stress, anxiety, and other psychological factors can cause complications during pregnancy and affect the development of the child. An important aspect of the research is that, in the context of war, many women experience additional psycho-emotional traumas that affect their condition.

The study's findings indicate that psychosocial support can significantly improve women's emotional well-being, reduce anxiety and stress caused by the war, and lower the risks of pregnancy complications. Psychosocial assistance should include preparation for motherhood, family-level counseling, and postpartum support to ensure a harmonious adaptation to the maternal role. The war only emphasizes the need for comprehensive support for women during pregnancy and after childbirth, as additional stress factors, such as life-threatening situations, loss of loved ones, and financial difficulties, require increased attention.
