The article examines modern models of organizing volunteer activities in institutions of higher education.
The issue of the essence and relevance of volunteering activities of modern youth is considered. Modern scientific publications related to volunteering are analyzed. Based on the analysis of publications, it was concluded that the issue of forms and models of student involvement in volunteering at specific universities remains insufficiently resolved.
The main models of volunteer activity are grouped in the following types: integrated model, autonomous model (independent initiative model), partnership model, student association model, institutional model (official support of the administration) and social innovation model.
The paper presents the partial results of a student survey on the effectiveness of the organization of volunteer activities at the Pryazovsky State Technical University. Based on the results of the survey, it was concluded that volunteer activities at the university are organized at a sufficiently high level, and that student associations and organizations have the most important role in the formation and organization of volunteer activities.
The article draws general conclusions regarding the need to involve students in volunteer activities as an element of their socialization in modern society. It was also concluded that despite the fact that volunteering is proactive, it still needs to be properly organized to achieve an effective result.
