University of the Third Age: From Education to Active Longevity

Abstract

The article explores the role of Third Century Universities in promoting active adulthood and social integration of older people. The importance of developing this service to improve the quality of life of summer people is explained. It is indicated that the Universities of the third century will bring about greater social isolation, the formation of new social bonds, and a reduction in the mental and physical well-being of pensioners. Various models of such universities have been developed, including the French, British, Chinese, Old American and Old American models. It is noted that their skin has its own characteristics, which adapt the initial programs and activities to the needs and cultural traditions of different countries. The main tasks of the Third Century Universities are clearly defined, which include ensuring continuous learning, increasing the quality of life, promoting social integration, promoting mental and physical health through the participation of attractive light and cultural visits.

Particular respect is given to the current situation in Ukraine. The specifics of the functioning of Third Century Universities on two levels: sovereign and non-sovereign have been clarified. It is clear that on the sovereign level, services are provided through regions, municipal and regional territorial centers, and on the non-state level - through community organizations, charitable foundations and private initiatives . The statistics also reveal the process of development and comprehensive service in Ukraine, starting from the first Universities of the third century, opened in 2002, to the present day, when the number of such deposits exceeds 3 00, but is still insufficient to cover all pensioners.

The problems with which the Ukrainian Universities of the third century are facing have been analyzed, noting the low rate of burial of people of late age. It is stated that the beginning of the Third Century Universities is cost-free, in order to make it accessible to a wide range of listeners, and requires additional funding.
