Abstract

The article deals with the analysis of the means of expressiveness of language in a literary text. The work substantiates the need for a comprehensive approach to the analysis of a literary text as an object of translation, which is due to its multi-level structure, stylistic richness and aesthetic function. The problem of preserving stylistic means of expressiveness in the translation of works of art, in particular landscape descriptions, which play an important role in creating a figurative picture of the author’s world, is highlighted. The theoretical foundations of the concept of a literary text, its functional and structural organization, as well as the role of linguistic means in the formation of an artistic image are highlighted. The conceptual foundations of a literary text are considered, its specificity as a communicative and aesthetic phenomenon is clarified. The means of linguistic expressiveness that ensure the stylistic originality of the text are studied, and the types of translation transformations that are used to adequately convey the content and style of the original are analyzed. The main difficulties that arise in the process of translating literary texts are identified, in particular when transmitting metaphors, epithets, comparisons and other stylistic figures.

The article classifies the stylistic means of expression used in the landscape descriptions of R. Bradbury's story "Dandelion Wine" and examines their functional load in the context of the author's style. The methods of translating the outlined means into Ukrainian are analyzed, the nature of the applied transformations, such as concretization, generalization, modulation, transposition, etc., is clarified. The degree of preservation of the stylistic integrity of the text in translation and the influence of translation decisions on the perception of the artistic image are determined.

It was made an attempt to establish a relationship between the stylistic means of the original and their translation reproduction, which allows for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of adaptation of artistic discourse in a foreign language environment.
