Constructive and operational characteristics of carbon dioxide piston compressors essentially influence on quality of carbon dioxide and power expenses at its compression. For the simultaneous decision of the specified problems it is expedient to modernize the available working compressors with the purpose of their putting into operating modes without greasing of cylinders and gaskets. It will allow to exclude the hit of oil in carbon dioxide, to increase its quality. Besides, the expenses of capacity for a drive of compressors can be reduced and also increase their durability. The positive experience of putting into such modes of operation of several types of piston multistage compressors with pressure of a forcing of carbon dioxide 7–8 МPа (for the food-processing industry) and 15–25 МPа (for the chemical enterprises on manufacture of urea) is stated.
