Oxygen is widely used in various branches of industry, but its properties of the efficient oxidant can result in serious consequences in case of incidents with oxygen equipment. The safety matters are considered at designing and operating the oxygen systems. The specific accidents, occurred by reason of the errors, when designing and operating the equipment, improper use of oxygen, have been analyzed. The risks are considered of being in the atmosphere with the increased oxygen content as well as the accident due to the faulty equipment operation. The main reasons of accidents are inobservance of the rules and requirements of safety, lack of experience and knowledge, lack of the proper control at the stages of designing, mounting, operation, maintenance and repair of oxygen systems.
