Abstract

Nature and content of impurities in carbon dioxide influences on the process of production and quality of urea. Higher concentration of inert impurities in carbon dioxide leads to decrease of CO2 conversion to urea. The presence of the combustible impurities in carbon dioxide causes generation of explosive mixtures with oxygen necessary for steel passivation. Three ways of carbon dioxide purification from combustible impurities by burning them out on the catalyst in the presence of oxygen has been described. In every case a burning apparatus is placed in front of CO2 compression unit, between the 1st and 2nd stages of the compressor and after full CO2 compression.
