Gas reliquefaction is the most efficient method for utilization of an evaporating cargo of methane carriers. For this purpose in the methane carriers the gas reliquefaction unit (GRLU) is installed. The reliability evaluation of GRLU equipment has been carried out and the failure rate of its elements has been generalized. The necessity of redundancy of the installation components and assemblies was justified. The analysis of types, consequences and criticality of equipment failures has been made. The most critical element of GRLU turned out the separator. Due to its failure GRLU becomes inoperable. This leads to an increase in the concentration of nitrogen vapor in the cargo tank as well as to possible stratification of the load and the subsequent rollover. The principle of operation and the control circuits of the separator is considered. The cause of the rollover occurrence induced by stratification in LNG due to an increase in the nitrogen concentration in the cargo vapor have been explained.
