The scientific fundamentals of the ecological and economic study of land resources for the formation
of the information base on the state of land use, the accounting of the areas and quality of use of the land
fund, as well as the effective functioning of the environmental safety system in the agrarian sector of the
economy has substantiated. An important task of the results of the ecological and economic study of land
resources is the establishment of the economic and socio-economic value of land resources, in particular,
their most important part — especially valuable lands, as well as the rehabilitation of degraded and unproductive
agricultural lands through conservation, cultivation and regeneration.
It is suggested that the criterion of environmental assessment of land resources should be productivity
of crops, taking into account that productivity can be characterized by indicators in energy units, which
combines the energy absorbed by plants of solar radiation, moisture and nutrients of soil.
It is determined that the comprehensive study of the eco-sphere and the creation of a system of information
about its state is the first principle of rational and comprehensive use of land resources. In general,
the ecological and economic study of land resources is a necessary element of improving the process of
environmentally sound use of agricultural land, restoring their fertility and productivity, and, finally, the
formation of a system of organizational and economic provision of environmental safety in the agrarian
sector of the Ukrainian economy.
