This article analyzes economic mechanisms and approaches to optimize rural governance and development, particularly in the context of ongoing decentralization reforms in Ukraine. Decentralization has given more budgetary and administrative powers to local governments in rural areas, allowing for policies that are more adapted to local conditions. However, local governments often lack the knowledge, skills, and resources to take full advantage of these opportunities. The study aims to identify strategies for strengthening governance and economic management of rural areas through improved financial planning, investment, use of technology, and human capital development. The aim is to provide recommendations for improving the efficiency, sustainability and equity of rural development processes.
