Abstract

The topic of scientific and ecological research of the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi and its surroundings during the period of the German occupation of the territory of Ukraine remains to this day not fully disclosed due to the long-term ban on access to information sources and their partial loss, therefore it is currently relevant. The purpose of the proposed article is to study the policy of the occupation authorities regarding scientific and ecological research on the territory of Ukraine in comparison with their actions on the territory of European countries using the example of France and Poland. The tasks include researching the reasons that prompted the Nazis to use the work of European and domestic scientists, determining priority areas of research and territorial features. The assessment of the results of geological and hydroecological studies of ecosystems on the territory of the modern National Nature Park “Podilski Tovtry” within the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi and its surroundings is considered separately. To achieve the goal, we used the data of a comparative analysis of historical events based on the comparison of various sources, data and facts to identify similarities and differences. Turning to archival documents, studying the original source — a report on complex scientific research conducted on the territory of the modern National Nature Park “Podilski Tovtry” (Kamiyanets-Podilskyi) made it possible to reveal the true course of some historical events in scientific life, to obtain unbiased information and to build an objective idea about the topic and the level of research conducted. It was concluded that the Hitlerites were most interested in applied research, especially in the field of agroecology. The natural resource potential of specific territories, which were included in the plans for the settlement of representatives of the Aryan race in Ukraine, was studied. Geological and hydrogeological studies conducted on the territory of the modern National Nature Park “Podilski Tovtry” confirm their scientific and practical value.
