THE DEVELOPMENT OF A VORTEX CLASSIFIER AND THE INVESTI-GATION OF ITS FRACTIONAL SEPARATING ABILITY

The paper describes a new technique of vortex classification of disperse materials into three fractions and a facility intended for this work. A distinctive feature of the developed method is the supply ofgas suspension by peripheralflow which is stepwise reduced in diameter in the direction of the descending rotation along the vertical axis of the vortex classifier, at the same time running off the selected particles of varied dispersity. Besides,the clean gas is conveyed into the central flow. Interaction of two vortex flowsin the developed facility provides possibility to control hydrodynamics of the classifier.
An experimental model has been constructed and a laboratory facility for experimental studies of the hydrodynamics of vortex classifier has been created. A number of investigations for fractional separating ability have been carried out. Differential and integral curves of white flourpowderdistributionare described. It is found that material dispersion, the median in particular, reduces in the levels of separation.
