Inclusion of the Geophysical Journal in Scopus: An Important Milestone for the Earth Sciences Community
Abstract
Dear authors, readers and members of the editorial board of the "Geophysical Journal", with great joy and pride we inform you that at the end of 2024 the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB), having considered the application for inclusion of the "Geophysical Journal" in the international scientometric database Scopus, made a positive decision to include the journal in the Scopus database and begin its indexing.
Conclusion of the CSAB reviewers:
- the journal consistently publishes articles that are academically sound and reach an international professional audience in this field;
- the journal has clear goals and scope of activity/policy that correspond to the content of the journal.
After the inclusion of the "Geophysical Journal" in the Web of Science Core Collection from the 1st issue in 2015, this event became an important milestone in 2024 in the history of the journal, which indicates its high level, relevance and recognition at the international level. Allow me to express my sincere congratulations and gratitude to everyone who contributed to this remarkable result.
For a scientific publication, inclusion in Scopus is a kind of quality mark, confirming that the publications meet the highest standards of the scientific community. This is the merit of the entire journal team: authors who create high-quality content, editors who ensure a professional level of review, and readers who trust the journal and actively use its materials.
For authors, publication in a journal indexed by Scopus is an opportunity to declare their research on the global stage. This opens the door to new scientific collaborations, increases the visibility of the works, and promotes their citation. We are proud that the Geophysical Journal is becoming a platform for the popularization of Ukrainian and international science.
We would like to express special gratitude to the members of the editorial board, whose dedicated work ensured this success. Your professionalism, integrity, and responsibility are the key to the high quality of publications published in our journal. You create an environment where scientific ideas can develop and spread, supporting innovation and groundbreaking approaches in geophysics.
The editorial process is always a challenge. It is a search for a balance between the academic freedom of authors and the strict requirements for the quality of scientific articles. All these efforts, which often remain behind the scenes, have now received well-deserved recognition.
Dear readers, your interest in the journal is a source of inspiration for our work. You are the main consumers of scientific knowledge, and it is your feedback, requests, and interests that help us improve the publication. We are grateful for your support and trust, which stimulate us to continuous development.
Inclusion in Scopus is not only recognition of achievements, but also a great responsibility. New horizons open up before us, and at the same time, the requirements for the quality of work increase. We must maintain a high level of articles, ensure the relevance of the topic, and follow modern trends in geophysics and related sciences.
This step also opens up opportunities for international cooperation. The Geophysical Journal becomes available to a wider range of scientists around the world, which will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas, as well as increase the prestige of Ukrainian science.
We invite all scientists to join our joint work. If you are an author, continue to send us your articles. We are ready to help you at all stages of publication. If you are a reader, share your thoughts and suggestions, because your feedback is the best incentive for our improvement. If you are a reviewer, your expertise and honesty will help us maintain a high standard of quality
