Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of identifying gifted children and youth in the secondary schools of the United States. The essence of the fundamental concept of the study – gifted children and youth – in American public legislative documents with reflection of state specifics is clarified and the components of giftedness are outlined. The methods and stages of identification of gifted students in American schools are described.
