The work is devoted to research possibility of using nanocomposite films of bacteriorhodopsin in sol-gel matrix with embedded quantum dots CdSe/ZnS as a sensitive element of chemical sensors. In this paper, a comparative study of excitation of quantum dots luminescence in nanocomposite film structures using the radiation of different spectral compositions were carried out. Research of the influence of humidity and ammonia on the characteristics of films of sol-gel SiO2 matrix - bacteriorhodopsin - quantum dots CdSe/ZnS has also been carried out. The research results confirmed that the luminescent emission of quantum dots can run a photocycle and, controlling the intensity of luminescent emission, we can monitor changes in the photocycle which, in turn, enables to control the presence and concentration of certain substances in the environment.
