The article examines the process of conceptualization, role and essence of assessing the quality of social services as one of the factors of community development and sustainability at the local level. In modern society, community development and provision of quality social services are important tasks that arise both at the state and local levels. Assessing the quality of these services plays a key role in achieving this goal. In carrying out the assessment procedure, it is important to take into account community resources that are able to meet the needs and demands of the local community. A comprehensive understanding of the needs and rights of service recipients is the basis for the effective functioning of the community. This approach allows to create a focus and appropriate conditions for strengthening the most important principles that social work professes - equality, social justice and humanism. It is important to note that assessing the quality of social service provision requires cooperation between the community, authorities and social work actors. Partnership helps to improve the system and ensure better results at all levels.
