The article is devoted to highlighting the phenomenon of elderly education in Ukraine and abroad. Healthy and educated older people are a resource for their families, communities, and economies. It is stated that lifelong learning is a useful skill for successful adaptation in the new conditions of uncertainty and forced displacement. The stages and conceptual foundations of the education of people of the third age are considered. Since the 70s of the twentieth century, educational institutions for the elderly have been classified according to various criteria, concepts of education, content of education, functions, and degree of institutionalization. Peer-to-peer education, gerontological tourism, and intergenerational mentoring are developing. Attention is focused on the psychological aspects of gerontological education, as the decline in intellectual activity can be prevented through targeted training. The positive results of gerontological education debunk stereotypes about age and preconceived negative judgments about all older people. The article reveals an imperfect system of training gerontological teachers in Ukraine. In order to realize the tasks of gerontological education in the conditions of the educational space of the Internet, older people need the help of gerontological specialists, who should be trained in modern pedagogical educational institutions. It is concluded that adult education is a promising interdisciplinary area of social and behavioral research in the global aging world. Counteracting the educational inertia of the elderly is possible through the popularization of modern educational technologies in the universities of the third age, through volunteer projects
