Abstract

The article examines the impact of aging processes on the deterioration of such cognitive functions as memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. Measures to support the intellectual activity of the elderly are considered as an important factor in improving the quality of their lives. Special attention is paid to the importance of mental activity for the psychological and emotional well-being of the elderly, as well as the experience of implementing world practices in this area. Modern approaches to stimulating cognitive processes in the elderly in social institutions of Ukraine are analyzed, in particular, the use of special programs and methods for the development of memory, attention and creative abilities. It is indicated that social contacts stimulate thinking and facilitate the exchange of information and ideas, which positively affects the general cognitive level. Research findings show that promoting mental activity in older people in social services helps increase social integration, reduce loneliness and improve overall health. In order to implement effective programs to promote intellectual activity in Ukraine, it is necessary to create conditions for the training of social workers and volunteers to work with the elderly. It is also important to fund programs at the state level, support scientific research in the field of cognitive aging, and use the most modern technologies for distance learning of older people.
