The changes of the geomagnetic field secular variations at the Antarctic magnetic observatories for 1956—2010 years were investigated. Comparison between the secular variations at the Antarctica continent and at the north polar cap and adjacent observatories in the middle latitudes of south hemisphere was performed.
The conclusion was drawn that secular variations at the high latitudes of the Earth have three sources: changes of the position of the central magnetic dipole and also changes of the value of its magnetic momentum, changes of sources in tectonosphere and changes of geomadnetic activity. depending on the sign of general magnetic field of the Sun, and, correspondingly, on the sign of the vertical component of the interplanetary magnetic field.
