Magazine cover design: typological-genre aspect
Abstract
The purpose of the work is to study and compare the covers of thematic journals using the genre specificity of the periodical on the formation of the composition of the external form of publishing products. The methodology of the study consists in a comprehensive analysis of the cover of the magazine publication as a source of visualization of the genre of publishing products and the principles of using different elements during the creation of the cover composition. Scientific novelty consists in uncovering the combination during the formation of a cover magazine edition of the stability of the composition, that is, the creation of a standard scheme and taking into account the thematic-genre specificity of publishing products. Conclusions. Thus, the cover of the magazine edition is the correspondence of the external form of the magazine to the organized content, format, genre and individual features of the publication. An important element is the layout of the room, which accurately shows the placement of texts and illustrations, titles, headings, etc. Makeup promotes the expression of the idea with the help of technical and artistic means. Compositional elements demonstrate the features of the language of the cover design of the periodical. Graphic features of font elements affect the artistic image of the publishing product, the font is associated with other elements (figurative, decorative). Thus, the specificity of decorative elements consists not only in providing the elements of the journal with the necessary accents, selection, separation of materials, but also in systematizing the concept of the cover of the publication. Consequently, it is necessary to take into account the features of the genre composition of the periodical, which will enable the consumer to obtain information about the publishing product.
