Purpose of the article. The study consists of a comprehensive analysis of installation projects in Ukraine as an artistic phenomenon and as an instrument for visualizing ideas in contemporary art. Particular attention is paid to the current, fourth stage of the development of installations in Ukraine. The contribution of participants in the artistic environment of Ukraine from the last quarter of the twentieth century in the field of installation and performance projects have been poorly explored. The methodology of the research is to apply the analysis, synthesis, factorial and historical methods of research to study the specific type of art of installation and performance as a particular phenomenon of the socio-cultural process. This methodological approach gives an opportunity to explore the particular features of specific projects and allows to distinguish the periodization of the installation movement in the modern art space. Scientific novelty consists in expanding the idea of the genesis of visual art at the intersection of the latest cultural paradigms and its influence on the phenomena of artistic avant-garde during the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The sources, types, ideas of installation projects were traced, and the names of implementers of these ideas were introduced into scientific circulation. Conclusions. The artistic and cultural processes of Ukrainian contemporary artistic space are analyzed. The vectors of the development of the visual visual movement in modern artistic locations are outlined.
